Peem & Sunday, Salaya Pavilion Dinner Report

We went to the Salaya Pavilion hotel by bust at 4.00pm and arrived Salaya Pavilion hotel at 5.00pm. Then we walked to the hall. We walked to the lift and pressed sixth floor. When the lift opened, we walked out from the lift.
Before we went to the dinner room we were resting. The dinner room had many tables and chairs and had many plates. It was good. Each table had eight chairs. After we sat on the chairs at each table the instructer described how to eat a Western dinner, and then we began to eat dinner.

The first dish was salad. The next dish was mushroom soup. The next dish was pork steak and the next was apple studel. And at last we drunk a cup of coffee or a cup of tea.

Then we went to the bus and left for home at 7.00pm and arrived at school at 8.00pm.

Mattayom 3, Salaya Writing Project

MOS and BEER, Mattayom 3

The photograph above shows Mos and Beer working on their Salaya Pavilion writing project. The Salaya Pavilion is a training restaurant and all the Mattayom 3 Intensive English Students visited there recently to learn about Western table manners and to try some Western food.

The project that they are working on will form part of the display for the upcoming 'Open Day' at King's College.

Both Mos and Beer are in Teacher Udaya's class and they have strong abilities in English.

Koe, Mattayom 3, Second Place Speech Competition

The Nakhon Pathom, Education Office of Area Two, speech competition was held recently. A King's College student, Koe, from Mattayom 3 won second place.

MY HOME TOWN

My home town is Nakhon Pathom. Nakhon Pathom is a very old city. It is 2000 years old.

Important stucture of my town is Phrapathom Chedi from the reign of King Rama 5 of the Bangok Period.

And in Nakhon Pathom have many interesting places. There is the Rose Garden Country resort, Wat Rao Khing, Don Wai market and the San Pet temple. But today I will talk about the Rose Garden Country Resort.

The Rose Garden Country resort is popular in Sam Phran and is 32 kilometres west of Bangkok. It is very beautiful with Thai style houses on the bank of the Tha Chin river. And, in the Rose Garden Country resort there is a show that includes Thai Folk dance, Thai boxing, sword fighting and and elephant show.

Below is TAO's story. He uses the past simple tense with creative effect by using his friends names in the story.

Last week Hippo and Kongsak went to the forest. Before they went to the forest they bought something to take to the forest. In the morning they went to the forest by car. They walked around the forest and pitched up camp.

Next day they went fishing and they met two elephants. Two hours later they were very sad because they can't get any fish but, they were happy again because the two elephants walked to help them. The two elephants fishing and got fish for them. They said to the elephants: Thank you for the fish. At night they had dinner with fish and traveled in the forest two days. They came back home. They remember the two elephants for a long time.

This is Ton's story.

One day in the afternoon, two people, father and son went to the park. They were fishing. The son saw that in the river had fishes. His father ate the sandwich. In the park had the trees and river, it was very cool, but they didn't get the fish. They were sad. The bucket was empty. After that, have an elephant. One elephant went to father and son and it blew the fish down in the bucket. They were happy.

Below, from Mattayom 3 is GOT's story. It shows a very good understanding of the past simple tense.

In the afternoon Jim and Jack went fishing in the river. In the river there were many fish. Jim sat on his chair and he ate a cake. Jack stood on the grass. They fished for 3 hours, after that they looked their hooks. The hooks didn't have a fish. The elephant sucked many fish in the river. It blew many fish in their bucket. Jim and Jack were happy!!

The story below is by Terk and shows work that is almost completely his own- the teacher has helped with the correct usage of only a few words and verbs. One or two errors remain.

Last week a father and son went to the forest. The father's name was John and the son's name was Jack. During the time that they went to the forest the weather was so cool. They stopped near the river. John looked around the river. He saw many big trees and two elephants. Then he said, "O.K. Jack we are fishing here." Then Jack and John fished in the river but their fishing rod was broken. Then they couldn't fish any more.

John and Jack looked in their bucket. John said, "Oh, Jack, today there isn't any fish for eating. Now what will we do?" Then the elephant walked to John and Jack. It saw the fish in the river then sucked the fish and put it in the bucket for John and Jack.

Jack saw that and then said, "Thank you Mr. Elephant", and Jack spoke to John, "Today we have fish for eating, ha, ha, ha."
